Your family lives in three countries and is never in one room? Send one link instead of a parcel. Everyone adds a photo and a few words when it suits their time zone, and the photos become one professionally made video. The video above is our real example, made by 8 people in 3 countries.

A frame from the example video: an old black-and-white photo of a family group on a hillside, with two children and a baby, the message “Congrats! Miss you!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Emma”.

Can a family in different countries really make one video together?

Yes. Our example, a surprise for a mother’s 65th birthday, was made by 8 people from 3 countries who sent 19 photos in two days. Nobody had to be online at the same time, and nobody recorded a video. One line from that video simply says “Congrats! Miss you!”.

How do you handle time zones?

You don’t have to. The link works around the clock, so each relative adds photos when it is a quiet moment for them, morning in one country and evening in another. You press “Make the video” when enough photos have arrived, and nobody has to be awake at the same time.

  • Any time zone
  • One link for everyone
  • Any family chat

One tip: give the deadline in one time zone, for example “Photos by Sunday evening, London time”. It saves a lot of “is it today or tomorrow for you?”.

Happy tears for everybody, memories forever.

Why send a video instead of a parcel?

A video arrives the moment you share the link, and it carries everyone at once. There is no shipping, no customs and no parcel lost on the way. A box comes from one person; a video made of photos from the whole family shows that everyone remembered, wherever they live.

A video from everyone

  • Arrives the moment you share the link
  • Everyone is in it, wherever they live
  • No shipping and no customs
  • Watched on a TV or a phone

A parcel from one person

  • Shipping takes days or weeks
  • Can get stuck at customs
  • From one person, not from all
  • Ends up on a shelf

How do you watch it together from different countries?

Pick a time and open the link during a video call. Everyone presses play at the same moment, or one person shares the screen and plays the video for all. After payment, every household can also download its own copy in HD without the watermark.

  1. On a video call. Agree on a time, send the link in the chat and press play together.
  2. By screen sharing. One person plays the 16:9 version and shares the screen.
  3. On every phone. Send the 9:16 version, so each family can watch it again later.

The person the gift is for can watch it on their own TV too: download the 16:9 version and play it from a laptop or a USB stick.

Send a link

Will relatives abroad really take part?

Yes, because it takes a minute and works in any country. There is no app to find in a local app store, no account and no video to record. A relative opens the link, chooses a photo and types a few words, and after that is asked who else should be in the video.

  1. Step 1Open the link.
  2. Step 2Choose one or two photos.
  3. Step 3Type a few words. Done.
  • No sign-up
  • No app

Lines that fit the 40-character limit and travel well:

  • “Congrats! Miss you!”

  • “Hugs from across the ocean!”

  • “Wish I could be there today.”

  • “See you next summer!”

  • “Love you from far away.”

  • “Counting the days to visit.”

Two promises

  • No selfie videosGuests add a photo and a few words. Nobody has to film themselves.

The practical part

What you get, the three steps and the price.

What are the key facts?

One link works in any country and any time zone. Relatives need no account and no app. Between 10 and 30 photos make one video, built in up to 10 hours, in two versions: 16:9 for the TV and 9:16 for phones.

How do you make it? Three steps for the organizer

  1. Step 1Add a few photosStart with your own photos, so the link never opens empty.
  2. Step 2Send one linkPost the ready message in the family chat, with one deadline.
  3. Step 3Press “Make the video”It needs 10 photos in all. Watch the free preview, fix anything, pay once.

The app writes the invitation for you, with the name you enter:

  • Hi! 🎁 I’m making a surprise video for Mom from everyone’s photos, and I’d love you to be in it. Could you add photos with Mom (and a short line for each), ideally today? Just photos: no selfie video, no sign-up, about a minute. Know anyone else who should be in it? Pass the link on. Shh, it’s a secret!

How much does it cost?

$39 for up to 15 photos or $49 for up to 30 photos, paid once; €39 / €49 in the eurozone and £35 / £45 in the UK. Starting and watching the preview are free. Both versions and the music are included. Anyone who has the gift link can pay, so one relative pays and the others settle their shares among themselves.
