For a baby shower, friends and family each add a photo with the mom-to-be (or both parents-to-be) and a few words, and the photos become one professionally made video to play at the shower. The video above is our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday.

A frame from the example video: a smiling woman in a pink blouse holding a baby in a red Santa suit, the message “Your newest love!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Tim”.

Everyone adds photos

What do you give the parents-to-be who already have a crib?

A video full of the people who will love this baby. Picture the shower: the mom-to-be as a little girl, the college years, the wedding, and friends and family from near and far, each with a photo and a few words for the baby on the way.

  • At the shower
  • Friends and family
  • For the baby on the way
  • A vertical frame from the example video: two women sitting together on a sofa in front of a bookshelf, the message “Love you, my dear!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Kate”.

  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white family portrait of a woman, a small boy and a man, the message “And here I am!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Leo”.
    And here I am!Leo
  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white photo of three women and a boy sitting in the grass, the message “Love you, sis!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Lilia”.
    Love you, sis!Lilia
  • A vertical frame from the example video: a smiling woman in a pink blouse holding a baby in a red Santa suit, the message “Your newest love!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Tim”.
    Your newest love!Tim

All four frames are from our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday: 8 people in 3 countries, 19 photos in two days, and not a single recorded clip.

Why a video instead of more baby clothes?

The clothes will fit for three months; the video stays. There will be plenty of onesies. A video from everyone shows the parents-to-be how many people are waiting for this baby. Each frame holds the full photo, a few words and a small round portrait of the sender.

A frame from the example video with three marks: a smiling woman in a pink blouse holding a baby in a red Santa suit, the message “Your newest love!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Tim”.
  1. A photo with the mom-to-be. Old or new, from any phone.
  2. A round portrait. It shows who sent the photo. It is optional.
  3. A few words. Up to 40 characters, for the parents or the baby.

Lines that fit the 40-character limit:

  • “Can’t wait to meet you!”

  • “You’ll be the best mom!”

  • “Welcome, little one!”

  • “Auntie is ready!”

  • “So happy for you both!”

  • “Love you already!”

More ideas are in What to write in a group video message.

Who can add a photo?

Friends, both families, coworkers and the grandparents-to-be. Usually the shower host starts it, then family and friends join in. Relatives who can’t come to the shower can still send a photo. Nobody needs an account or an app to take part.

  • grandparents-to-be
  • best friends
  • sisters
  • coworkers
  • cousins
  • aunts
  • college friends
  • neighbors
  • in-laws
  • godparents
  • friends abroad
  • book club
  • gym friends
  • childhood friends
  • family
  • moms group
  • teammates
  • uncles

Is it OK to show the baby bump photos?

Only what the parents-to-be would be happy to see on a screen. Anyone who has the link can see the photos in the group. Choose who gets the link, and keep it to friends and family. The parents decide what to share afterwards.

Is there a version for phones?

Yes. You get two videos from the same photos: 16:9 for the TV and 9:16 for phones. Both are made at the same time and included in one price. Play the 16:9 video at the shower and send the 9:16 version to the parents-to-be.

  • 16:9 for the TV. Play it at the party or on a video call.
  • 9:16 for phones. It fills the screen. Send it to everyone who took part.
  • One price for both. The same photos, words and music in each.
