For Father’s Day, the kids, grandkids and the rest of the family each add a photo with Dad and a few words, and the photos become one professionally made video. The video above is our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday.

A frame from the example video: an old black-and-white family portrait of a woman, a small boy and a man, the message “And here I am!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Leo”.

Everyone adds photos

What do you give a dad who says he wants nothing?

A video of everyone he loves, saying thanks. Picture Father’s Day: Dad young with a baby on his arm, the camping trips, the driving lessons, the weddings and the grandkids, each with a photo and a few words from the person who sent it.

  • For Father’s Day
  • From the whole family
  • No speeches
  • A vertical frame from the example video: two women sitting together on a sofa in front of a bookshelf, the message “Love you, my dear!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Kate”.
    Love you, my dear!Kate
  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white family portrait of a woman, a small boy and a man, the message “And here I am!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Leo”.
    And here I am!Leo
  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white photo of three women and a boy sitting in the grass, the message “Love you, sis!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Lilia”.
    Love you, sis!Lilia
  • A vertical frame from the example video: a smiling woman in a pink blouse holding a baby in a red Santa suit, the message “Your newest love!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Tim”.
    Your newest love!Tim

All four frames are from our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday: 8 people in 3 countries, 19 photos in two days, and not a single recorded clip.

Why a video instead of another gadget?

He can buy a gadget; he can’t buy this. Dads often get tools and ties that stay in the box. A video from the whole family shows him what he means to each of you. Each frame holds the full photo, a few words and a small round portrait of the sender.

A frame from the example video with three marks: an old black-and-white family portrait of a woman, a small boy and a man, the message “And here I am!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Leo”.
  1. A photo with Dad. From any year.
  2. A round portrait. It shows who sent the photo. It is optional.
  3. A few words. Up to 40 characters, e.g. “Best dad ever!”

Lines that fit the 40-character limit:

  • “Best dad ever!”

  • “Thanks for every ride!”

  • “Love you, Dad!”

  • “You taught me everything.”

  • “Still my hero!”

  • “Happy Father’s Day, Pops!”

More ideas are in What to write in a group video message.

Who can add a photo?

His kids, grandkids, partner, siblings and old friends. Start with the kids, then pass the link on. After adding a photo, each guest is asked who else should be in the video. Nobody needs an account or an app to take part.

  • his kids
  • grandkids
  • Mom
  • his siblings
  • old friends
  • in-laws
  • coworkers
  • neighbors
