Group videos feel awkward when people have to talk to a camera. With FromAll.gift, everyone adds a photo and a few words instead, and the photos become one professionally made video. The video above is our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday.

A frame from the example video: an old black-and-white photo of a family group on a hillside, with two children and a baby, the message “Congrats! Miss you!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Emma”.

Why do group video messages feel awkward?

Because most people hate talking to their own phone. The usual group video is a row of selfie clips: shaky, too long, the same “Happy birthday!” twenty times. People record five takes, give up, or never send theirs. A photo and one line take a minute and say more.

  • No selfie clips
  • Everyone joins
  • Short and real
  • A vertical frame from the example video: two women sitting together on a sofa in front of a bookshelf, the message “Love you, my dear!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Kate”.
    Love you, my dear!Kate
  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white family portrait of a woman, a small boy and a man, the message “And here I am!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Leo”.
    And here I am!Leo
  • A vertical frame from the example video: an old black-and-white photo of three women and a boy sitting in the grass, the message “Love you, sis!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Lilia”.
    Love you, sis!Lilia
  • A vertical frame from the example video: a smiling woman in a pink blouse holding a baby in a red Santa suit, the message “Your newest love!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Tim”.

All four frames are from our real example, made for a mother’s 65th birthday: 8 people in 3 countries, 19 photos in two days, and not a single recorded clip.

What makes a group video feel good to watch?

Real photos, short lines and a steady rhythm. Each frame holds the full photo, a few words and a small round portrait of the sender. Music and motion design keep the pace, so nobody’s frame drags on.

A frame from the example video with three marks: an old black-and-white photo of a family group on a hillside, with two children and a baby, the message “Congrats! Miss you!”, and a round portrait labelled “Photo from Emma”.
  1. A real photo. A memory, not a selfie made for the video.
  2. A round portrait. It shows who sent the photo. It is optional.
  3. A few words. Up to 40 characters, so nobody rambles.

Lines that fit the 40-character limit:

  • “Remember the lake house?”

  • “Thanks for everything!”

  • “Still laughing about it!”

  • “Love you to bits!”

  • “Best roommate ever!”

  • “Same time next year?”

More ideas are in What to write in a group video message.

Who usually doesn’t join a selfie video?

The shy, the busy and the older relatives. They are often the people the guest of honor most wants to hear from. With a photo and a line, they can join in a minute, with no app and no account.

  • shy friends
  • grandparents
  • busy parents
  • teenagers
  • coworkers
  • old friends
  • introverts
  • relatives abroad
  • dads
  • neighbors
  • in-laws
  • everyone
  • night-shift workers
  • new friends
  • teammates
  • classmates
  • cousins
  • bosses

What should people write?

One true line about the photo. A memory, a thank-you or an inside joke beats a long wish. If someone is stuck, they can tap a ready start like “Remember when…”. Nobody needs an account or an app to take part.

Is there a version for phones?

Yes. You get two videos from the same photos: 16:9 for the TV and 9:16 for phones. Both are made at the same time and included in one price, so the video plays well on a TV at the party and on phones afterwards.

  • 16:9 for the TV. Play it at the party or on a video call.
  • 9:16 for phones. It fills the screen. Send it to everyone who took part.
  • One price for both. The same photos, words and music in each.
